The SAP-Sybase Merger from a BI Perspective

SAP AG's announcement that it is acquiring Sybase Inc. for US $5.8 billion primarily has to do with the enterprise software giant getting its hands on Sybase’s mobile computing infrastructure, which SAP can use to significantly bolster its mobile applications initiatives. However, in addition to mobile enterprise computing facilities, this deal will also provide SAP with analytic database and other technology that will enable it to carry out some very interesting developments in the way of BI and data warehousing.
