The Jabberwock and the Vorpal Sword: A Battle for Pragmatics in a Semantic Web Wonderland

by Mitchell Ummel

Over the past few months, I've been consumed with the analyses of emerging cloud computing industry trends and ontological engineering methodologies and toolsets -- and engaged on the ground with roadmapping projects for government business process and technology. This Executive Update provides me a welcome reprieve. My quest involves seeking some understanding of these questions: Is it really all just a matter of semantics? Must we first address the challenges of semantics before achieving some level of pragmatics? Join me, if you will, using selected works of Lewis Carroll on a whimsical journey down that rabbit hole.
