Celebrating 20 Years of the Web

by San Murugesan

The Web has changed how we gather information, do our work, buy goods and services, connect with our friends and family, spend our leisure time, and even find a partner or lost friend. It has also transformed the business landscape by changing how organizations conduct their business, connect with their customers and suppliers, and collaborate. It even has changed how businesses foster innovation and source ideas and work -- embracing the power of people, not just depending on their employees and consultants. It has also changed the face of education, healthcare, emergency response, and social interaction. Indeed, the Web’s influence has been far-reaching -- it even has changed the domains that were insensitive to technological advances for centuries, such as politics, governance, religion, and spirituality. Further, the Web has now become mobile, portable, and more versatile, serving billions of people across the globe -- young and old, rich and poor.
