Jim Watson
Senior Consultant

Jim Watson is a Senior Consultant with Cutter Consortium's Enterprise Architecture, Agile Product & Project Management, and Business-IT Strategies practices. He has more than 15 years' technical leadership experience architecting, designing, and developing software products and applications.

Mr. Watson was VP Engineering at IONA Technologies, PLC, where he managed the overall architecture, implementation and delivery of products. Prior to that position, Mr. Watson was IONA's first Technical Director, whereby he lead a major refactoring project and provided overall architectural direction for IONA's Integration Product Suite. Prior to joining IONA, Mr. Watson was Founder and Principal Consultant of Aurora Technologies, Inc, a 10-person boutique consultancy for custom application development and integration projects. While at Aurora, he worked with various Global 2000 clients in manufacturing, telecommunications, finance, and government.

Before founding Aurora, Mr. Watson was a co-architect for one of the first distributed simulation environments developed for the US Military. His involvement in product development includes Web services, J2EE, Java, C++, CORBA, COM, Messaging, Real-Time System, Design Patterns. His involvement in development methodologies includes eXtreme Programming (XP) and Rational Unified Process (RUP).

Throughout his career, Mr. Watson has been a frequent technical speaker at various trade conferences. Mr. Watson has produced and delivered training for both technical and management audiences, ranging from integration, patterns, and product technologies.
